STEM! STEM!

Identify a problem in the community
Have your students solve it and soon they will be
Ready to collaborate and able to communicate
Using science, tech, engineering and math
With a group of our peers, yea we react
Giving solutions that are making sense
To this global audience

Chorus:
STEM is a method of teaching
Yea engaging all across the curriculum
Challenge-based,and an authentic way
Of having inquiry instruction
Yea, problems for real life that we simulate
To prepare our students for the workplace

Prepare us for jobs of the 21st century
We’re working together, thinking - critically
To solve problems and make decisions
With our creative intuition
Using science, tech, engineering and math
We use modern tools to document
And prepare for high tech careers
Like creative engineers

DEN (Discovery Education Network) Anthem

DEN

Lance: And, what would you think about creating a DEN anthem?  If this is too big of an ask, just let me know.

Lodge: I think a DEN anthem would be interesting.  What would you like it to say?

Lance: I hate to keep asking about songs but the DEN anthem would be fantastic to have.  Here is a presentation that contains the key words and ideas, but I’d love to chat with you about it: DEN

Lodge: Sounds great, all around. When do you have a few minutes to chat DEN repeaters?

Lance: Right now?  Or pretty much any time today or tomorrow.

Don’t you want to be a Star
Known along the boulevard
For passing on how you believe
In educational technology
Be the support system
For using digital media
That’s our community
It’s no mystery

Chorus:
We are the DEN
We’re standing together
State of the art as we share with each other
A community connecting teacher to teacher
Online, in person, we’ll hear the call
We are the DEN
Yea, stronger than ever
The valuable resources are each other
My personal network binds us together
All for good, and good for all

You can be a DEN Star
Get free PD and webinars
Host a training on technology
Help us expand this community
Be the support system
For teachers old and young
Join up and you will see
The possibilities

Share what you know
Start those ideas and see them go
Plant best practices and watch them grow

Ours

Lyrics -

Out here the leaves fall in December
Off of trees made from impossible roots and wild strawberries
We always make a pile for the kids
At night we still play tennis
We turn the dial, it clicks, the lights hum
But they’re temporary
We can’t find our shirts and the lid
It’s nothing somebody did

Chours:
God made the stars
For the back seat of my car
As the world slowly turns
Because it’s ours
And with the lights this bright
I’ll stay awake until we get it right
And count those stars
Before we say good night

An old fella with some old time records
Cracks a window and plays a song
That talks about Detroit City
The chorus says “I wanna go home”
His rocking chair has been weathered
The ice that used to cool his tea…
Has long since melted
He’s thinking ’bout a long time ago
Things change when they grow
